WEST CHESTER — The phrase October Surprise in political circles is usually greeted with apprehension but in Chester County, several surprises await residents ready to get involved in the upcoming Midterms. On Sunday, October 14, Senator Bob Casey, Jr., headlines the Chester County Democratic Committee (CCDC) annual Fall Fundraiser.
With a theme of Casino Night, area Democrats will gather at Milestone Events, 600 E. Market Street, West Chester. Guests will be treated to Luigi & Giovanni caterers who return after their abundant buffet served at CCDC’s Spring Fundraiser.
A VIP Cocktail Hour begins at 5 pm with an Open Bar and an opportunity to mingle with Congressional candidate Chrissy Houlahan and almost a dozen State house candidates, elected officials and sponsors. At 6 pm guests can hear Senator Casey and then test their luck at the casino tables and vie for baskets and door prizes.
To purchase tickets online, visit www.chescodems.org or contact the party headquarters at 610-692-5811.
A second October surprise is the launch of CCDC’s refreshed website with interactive maps and easy to navigate topics. Residents wanting to register, vote absentee or see a sample ballot can find everything within a few clicks. Biographies and photographs of all Midterm candidates are posted as well as State House and State District maps.
For those wanting to “do” something as Election Day nears, an endless calendar of activities is posted at https://chescodems.org/about-ccdc/ccdc-events. Every candidate is hosting phone banks, neighborhood canvassing and envelope stuffing parties in the 20 zones that make up Chester County. A few hours of volunteering can make a big difference.
