COATESVILLE — Despite weekend snow, 80 employment offers were made to job seekers during a two-day Urban Outfitters Hiring Event held February 6 & 7 at The Benner Building in Coatesville. All employees are eligible for free, direct round-trip shuttle on “The Outfitter” from Coatesville to the Urban Outfitters, Inc. fulfillment and distribution centers in Gap, PA.

“Based on the success of our first Coatesville hiring event, even under challenging weather conditions, we look forward to continuing our collaboration with the City of Coatesville to support additional employment opportunities,” says Melinda McClure, Executive Director of Logistics at Urban Outfitters, Inc.

Funding for The Outfitter is provided through a pilot workforce development program by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through PennDOT, and by Urban Outfitters, Inc. The employee shuttle and public bus route is managed by the Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC) and is available for all shifts with four stops along Lincoln Highway in Coatesville.

Chester County Commissioners’ Chair Marian Moskowitz said, “This partnership between Urban Outfitters, Inc., PennDOT, TMACC and the City of Coatesville came together quickly, and this weekend’s hiring event was the final step of the program. But really, the 80 jobs offered are just the beginning. With more jobs to fill, people who want to work, and transportation to bring them together, this partnership can and will continue.”

“It was exciting to see people come out for the Hiring Event,” said James Logan, Coatesville City Manager. “Team Urban did an incredible job welcoming and interviewing everyone who came through the door.”

Urban employees greeted enthusiastic jobseekers with smiles and an informational video featuring employees who started their careers in entry-level positions and progressed into management roles. “It’s clear that this opportunity can serve as a stepping-stone to other positions within Urban,” said Logan. “We are proud that Coatesville is recognized as a source of talented people who can get the job done. I feel this is only the beginning of our efforts to create a workforce pipeline in Coatesville and collaborate with outstanding employers like Urban Outfitters.”
