Letter: stunned by commissioners’ support for sweatshops

To The Editor:

Letters1Does Chester County support sweatshops?

That may seem like a ridiculous question. Whether or not you support overseas manufacturing, I think I am safe in assuming that the vast majority of Chester Countians oppose sweatshop labor. However, recent actions by our elected leaders in the County Commissioners’ office suggest that they, and by extension the taxpayers of Chester County, do in fact support sweatshops.

In opposition to the efforts of Department of Human Services employees to get fair pay and fair treatment, the Commissioners have hired Peter List of Kulture LLC. On the company’s official website, Mr. List proudly posts an article supporting sweatshops.

List is a shady character. He cannot be contacted by phone, and there is no published physical address for his business. He is also a radical, as his support of sweatshops clearly shows.

We, here in Chester County, are not radicals. We support basic fairness, including fair pay for a hard day’s work. We do NOT support the use of sweatshop labor anywhere in the world.

Engaging the services of a radical like Mr. List, a man who is in the business of extremism, suggests that we support his radical ideas. By hiring Mr. List, Chester County is supporting the things he supports, and Mr. List openly supports sweatshops.

It’s time that our leaders get their priorities straight. The County Commissioners must stop using our tax money to pay exorbitant fees to a radical who supports sweatshops and radical causes.

Commissioners, stop making us all look bad. FIRE PETER LIST and deal fairly with the employees at the Department of Human Services.

First of all, what has the County Commissioners hired Peter List of Kulture LLC to do?

I wonder how Mr. List feels about Police and Firemen Unions?

What I don’t understand is, how could the County Commissioners work with a company who does not list where their office is located?
