Police seeking information on vehicle vandals

 Officers responded Sunday to two separate incidents: tire-slashing, keying

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACoatesville police said officers responded to two calls on Sunday regarding vandalism to vehicles.

Officer Miguel Ortiz took a report at 10:55 p.m. that a 2002 Nissan Altima in the 1100 block of Walnut Street had been keyed on the rear door sometime between Friday and Saturday, police said. Officer Brenden Boyle responded at 11:06 p.m. to a tire-slashing complaint in the 500 block of Blackhorse Hill Road, police said. The front right tire of a 2000 Lincoln Continental was flattened from a puncture, damage that the owner said occurred overnight, police said. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

A gray Chevrolet minivan operating in the bike lane caught the attention of Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie Sunday at 11:46 p.m., especially after it nearly struck a curb, police said. Ingemie stopped the vehicle, which was eastbound in the 200 block of West Lincoln Highway and determined that the driver, Benito Beltran, 34, of Coatesville, showed signs of intoxication, police said. Beltran had bloodshot glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath, even though he was attempting to mask the smell by chewing a “fruity flavored gum,” police said. Beltran was arrested for driving under the influence after he failed field sobriety tests, police said.

Officer Stephen Galletta made contact with Helen Frazier, 54, of Lancaster, on Sunday at 10:05 p.m. in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway, police said. Frazier, who had an active bench warrant, was taken into custody without incident; she was charged with disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers found a crack pipe in her possession, police said.

Coatesville police received word on Sunday at 7:45 p.m. from the West Chester Police Department that Jerone Washington, 28, of Downingtown, who had an active warrant in Coatesville, had been taken into custody, Officer Paul Antonucci reported. Washington was transported to Coatesville for processing, police said.

On Sunday at 11:37 p.m., police were dispatched to the unit block of North Church Street for a hit-and-run accident, Cpl. Ken Michels reported. A 1995 Honda Accord, which was parked in the area overnight, had sustained damage to the front bumper, fog lights and side marker lens sometime after 9:30 the previous evening, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

On Saturday at 8:10 a.m., David P. Hilton, 33, of Coatesville, was taken into custody in Caln Township on a criminal warrant stemming from an incident in Coatesville in April 2012, Officer Brenden M. Boyle reported. Hilton was transported to the Coatesville Police Station, where he was processed; he was remanded to Chester County Prison on other outstanding bench warrants, police said.
