Police: 3 robberies reported in less than 12 hours

Weapons included fist, baseball bat, and semi-automatic handgun

ImageCoatesville Police Officer Carmen Mollichella responded to the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway on Monday at 9:25 p.m. for a reported robbery, police said. The victim, a 43-year-old Indian male, stated that he was walking along East Lincoln Highway and talking on his cell phone when he was punched in the face from behind and a young male grabbed his phone and fled on foot, police said. The victim did not sustain injuries and declined medical treatment, police said.

A robbery dispatch led police to the 100 block of North Third Avenue at 1:59 a.m. on Tuesday, Officer Guy Bruchstein reported. Through an interpreter, the victim, a 23-year-old Hispanic male, said several males in their late 20s to early 30s used a baseball bat to assault him while taking his wallet, which contained his ID and $200 in cash, police said.

Police were dispatched to the area of South Sixth Avenue and Walnut Street for a robbery on Tuesday at 4:36 a.m., Officer Carmen Mollichella reported. The victim, a 41-year-old Hispanic male, stated that he was robbed by two men dressed in black, one of whom displayed a small, stainless steel semi-automatic handgun, police said. During the robbery, the victim was struck in the head three times with the weapon, police said. The assailants reportedly fled on foot, after taking the wallet from the victim, who sustained head lacerations and was taken to Brandywine Hospital for treatment, police said.

On Friday at 4:49 a.m., police responded to the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway for a domestic dispute, Officer Chris McCarthy and Det. Shannon Miller reported. Upon arrival, the officers made contact with Christiana Anderson outside of the apartment, police said. Upon entering the apartment, officers found a man unconscious on the floor and bleeding from his head, police said. The victim, who sustained a concussion, was taken to Paoli Hospital for treatment, which included nine staples in his head, police said. Anderson, 22, of Coatesville, was taken into custody, charged with aggravated assault and related offenses, and remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $50,000 bail, police said. A preliminary hearing has not been scheduled yet, court records said.

Police are investigating an overnight theft of $4,100 worth of property from a vehicle that occurred in the 400 block of East Chestnut Street sometime between Sunday and Monday, Cpl. Larry Cooper reported. Police want to remind residents to make sure their vehicles are locked and valuables are not left inside. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

Officer Carmen Mollichella was dispatched to the corner of South Fifth Avenue and Olive Street on Monday at 8:48 p.m. for a report of a stolen vehicle, police said. The victim stated that he parked his car on the corner and left his engine running while he went into a store to buy cigarettes, police said. When the victim returned minutes later, the green 1998 Infinity Q45 was gone, he said. An investigation is continuing, police said.
