Two armed robbery attempts under investigation

Police said one occurred Wednesday night, another Thursday morning

Image 2Two Coatesville residents were the victims of an armed robbery attempt on Virginia Avenue Wednesday at 8:58 p.m., Coatesville Police Officer Jose Colon reported. Police said two black males wearing shirts over their faces assaulted one of the victims with a black- and chrome-colored handgun, causing a minor head injury, before fleeing in a brown Jeep Cherokee. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

Another attempted armed robbery occurred on Thursday at 12:53 a.m. at North Fifth Avenue and East Chestnut Street, Cpl. Larry Cooper reported. Police said two men were approached by an unknown individual who displayed a handgun and demanded money before fleeing. Police said the suspect was described as a 5-foot-10, 160-165-pound white male who was wearing dark pants, a white t-shirt, and a white towel on his head.

Officer David Marquette was dispatched to an assault in the unit block of Oak Street on Wednesday at 8:10 p.m., police said. After allegedly attacking the victim, Todd Hood, 22, Ayesha Hood, 35, and Curtis Thomas, 21, all from Coatesville, fled, police said.  Todd Hood and Thomas were taken into custody by Marquette, who recovered a loaded firearm, police said. Hood was charged with assault and weapons offenses, while Thomas was charged with assault; both were processed and held for video arraignment, police said. A warrant was issued for Ayesha Hood for weapons charges, police said.

On Wednesday at 7:39 p.m., Officer David Marquette came into contact with Ernest Joint, 18, of Coatesville, in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway, police said. Joint, who was yelling and taunting police and inciting a crowd, continued to do so after being told to walk away, police said.  Joint was arrested for disorderly conduct, processed and held for video arraignment, police said.

State police from the Embreeville barracks arrested Keith E. Proctor III, 36, of Coatesville, for suspected drunken driving on July 3 at 9:44 p.m. on the U.S. 30 Bypass, south of Rt. 322 in Caln Township.

Jennifer R. Pennington, 31, of Coatesville, is accused of striking a victim during a verbal altercation in the 100 block of North Brandywine Avenue in Modena on Tuesday at 4:16 p.m., said state police from the Embreeville barracks. Police said harassment charges would be filed.
