The Under 18 Chester County All-Stars celebrate their state championship.

After absorbing an 11-0 defeat by Crawford County in the Pennsylvania Big League State Championship winners’ bracket final, the District 28/Chester County 18U All-Stars turned around and snatched victory from defeat.

The District 28 All-Stars—which represent all of the Chester County Big League teams–rallied for a 9-8 win over Crawford County and then carried the momentum into the “if-necessary” game to claim the Big League state crown, 7-3, at Mansfield University.

The team will next play in Dover, Del. to compete in the regional championships.

In the “first championship game,” Crawford led 8-0 in the middle of the fourth inning before the District 28 All-Stars got on the board via a home run by Tyler Hall. Hall then nearly singlehandedly provided the offense that propelled Chester County to the victory and another chance to win the Pennsylvania Championship. A pair of errors by Crawford County plated a run and put two on base for Chester County. Hall hit his second home run to cut the Crawford County lead to 8-5.

In the seventh inning, District 28’s first three batters reached base, with one run scoring on an error. Representing the winning run, Hall ended the game with his third consecutive home run, giving Chester County a 9-8 walkoff win.

In the “if” game, District 28 scored five runs in the first inning on a Crawford County error, a run-scoring single by Hall and a three-run homer by Sean Barnes. Chester County increased its lead to 7-0 in the fifth inning as Hall went yard for the fourth time in the two-game set. He was 5-for-7 with four home runs, 10 RBI and five runs scored for the afternoon.
