Editor’s Note: The following is a statement to the media from Ana S. Santo that she agreed to have published as a letter to the editor.
As a taxpayer, as a parent and as a human being—I am appalled at what’s been going on at the Coatesville School District.
Please continue to report tonight at the school board meeting and to chase the investigation that is still underway by the Chester County, PA District Attorney’s office.
Lots of questions—Are there missing funds? Are there any other employees of the district involved in this texting disaster? Seems to have been a third cell phone, is that cell phone issued by the school district?
Dr. Tonya Taylor, of the school board—says the text messages were shown to her “late in the afternoon, on Aug. 16.” BUT – the school district’s announcement posted this week states she received copies of messages on Aug. 18. Something is NOT RIGHT!
The Board itself should resign tonight. The school board posted Como’s retirement letter on the district website on Aug. 29, 2013. Why would any school district board allow this AFTER seeing those texts? It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that allowing the public to think it was a simple “goodbye-see ya” letter is wrong & immoral.
Finally, the School Board should terminate Como and Donato tonight. No resignation. A termination.

Please don’t think that Dr. Powell or anyone else promoted or advanced under Como is any better than him or others. Still a wolf in different sheep’s clothing.
BRAVO, breath takingly simple steps to move forward. Tonight we need to seize and run with this incredible opportunity! The next time we’re on the news let it be about surging test scores and rocketing adutudes that came from the Taxpayers, teachers, parents, students working with a new Administration and new Board to rescue our District from the brink we now find ourselfs on. See everyone tonight.
