Police are asking anyone with information to contact them
On Tuesday at 01:21 a.m., Officer Miguel A. Ortiz was dispatched to the unit block of North Third Avenue for a strong-arm robbery report, police said. The victim said she was assaulted by an unknown male wearing all dark clothing who demanded her wallet, police said. The suspect was described as a dark-skinned, clean-shaven black aged 18 to 20, police said. The victim was transported to Brandywine Hospital for treatment of her injuries. On Monday at 7:36 p.m. Cpl. Jonathan Shave responded to the 600 block of Merchant Street for a reported armed robbery, police said. The victim said he opened his door to take his trash out and two males, one armed with a handgun, robbed him of his wallet, police said. Shortly after Shave broadcast a description of the suspects to the department, Officer Joseph Norcini observed a man matching the description and attempted to stop him, police said. After a brief struggle, the suspect was able to escape, but not before dropping a loaded firearm and narcotics, police said. Both incidents are under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 610-384-2300.
A traffic stop for an equipment violation on Tuesday at 12:08 a.m. at Pennsylvania Avenue and Walnut Street led to charges against an 18-year-old Coatesville woman, Cpl. Jonathan Shave reported. LaMonika Wilson was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and was processed and released on a summons, police said.
On Tuesday at 2:07 a.m., Cpi. Jonathan Shave came into contact with Alan Carter, 20, of Coatesville, who was a passenger in a vehicle that he had stopped in the 100 block of West Lincoln Highway, police said. Carter was taken into custody without incident on several warrants, police said
At midnight on Tuesday, West Goshen Township Police contacted Coatesville police regarding a felony warrant for Anthony Wallace, 30, of Coatesville, Officer Sylvester Earle reported. The warrant was confirmed and Coatesville police took custody of Wallace, who was arraigned and transported to Chester County Prison after failing to post $25,000 cash bail, police said.
State police from the Embreeville barracks said they responded to a two-vehicle crash on Monday at 12:48 a.m. on the U.S. 30 Bypass in Valley Township. Police said Nicholas J. Matusky, 23, of Downingtown, was traveling eastbound in the right lane, east of Airport Road, when his 2010 Mercury Milan struck the rear bumper of a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, causing the Cruze to impact the guide rail, police said. Police said Matusky’s vehicle hit the grass incline to the south, rolled, and came to rest back on the highway. Investigation revealed that Matusky was intoxicated, police said, adding that charges were filed. Both drivers were taken to Brandywine Hospital for treatment of their injuries, and the eastbound lanes of the bypass were closed for about two hours, police said.
