State Sen. Andy Dinniman and his staff will assist Good Works Inc., a nonprofit committed to improving the living conditions of the county’s low-income families, on Saturday in Coatesville.

From 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dinniman, along with other volunteers, will work to improve a house in the 400 block of Maple Avenue in Coatesville.

“For 25 years, the volunteers of Good Works have been working to improve the living conditions of local families in need. I have been a supporter of this organization from the beginning, and it will be my honor to pitch in on Saturday,” Dinniman said in a news release.

Dinniman emphasized that volunteerism and community service will continue to play an important role in Coatesville as the community comes together to combat racism and discrimination. “We will not let a few individuals cast a shadow of hate on Coatesville,” Dinniman said. “We refuse to let the reputation of this city be tarnished by bigotry when there is so much good being done by volunteers and organizations like Good Works.”

The senator suggested that government programs have to be supplemented. “Cuts to important social programs mean that it is up to the community, including people of faith, to step forward to answer the call of those in need,” he said. “That is exactly what is happening here in Coatesville.”
