Investigation continuing into theft of one teen’s cell phone
On Thursday, Nov. 21, at 3:01 p.m., Coatesville Police Cpl. Jonathan Shave responded to a disturbance in the rear of the Coatesville Library, where approximately 20 juveniles were fighting, police said. Upon investigation, one juvenile male had been jumped and robbed of his cell phone, police said, adding that the investigation in ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. At 5:36 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, police were dispatched to a home in the 800 block of Madison Street for a domestic, Officer Sylvester Earle reported. Contact was made with Alex Mowday, 39, who indicated that Galena Mowday, 48, made threats toward him, police said. While Earle was in the home, he noticed misbranded medications and drug paraphernalia in plain view, police said, adding that charges are pending against both parties.
A report of shots fired led Officer Miguel Ortiz and Det. Ryan Wright to a parking lot in the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 1:13 p.m., police said. Wright recovered approximately four slugs from the trunk of a vehicle owned by a 73-year-old woman, police said. Officer Rob Kuech and Cpl. Ken Michels observed James Baron, 50, who is apparently homeless, sleeping on the sidewalk in the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 12:32 p.m., police said. Baron was visibly intoxicated and in possession of two open, partially consumed cans of an alcoholic beverage, police said. Baron was taken into custody, cited for public drunkenness and violating the open-container ordinance and held at the station until sober, police said.
On Saturday, Nov. 16, at 12:55 p.m., a Turkey Hill employee recorded the license plate of Marcellus London, 29, of Coatesville, who was reportedly observed shoplifting a Hickory Farms gift set from the store in the 1000 block of East Lincoln Highway, Coatesville Police Officer Raymond Jaglowicz reported. On Tuesday, Nov. 19, Turkey Hill employees identified London from a photo lineup, and charges will be filed, police said.
Coatesville police arrested Richard Pittman, 34, of Coatesville, who had 3 active domestic warrants, on Friday, Nov. 22, at 4:07 a.m. at North Seventh Avenue and Lumber Street, Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported. Pittman was taken to the station to await a hearing, police said.
On Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 6:22 p.m., police made contact with a man who said that he left his mountain bike unlocked in the unit block of North Third Avenue and that when he returned to get it, he observed two males walking north with the bike, Officer Stephen Galletta reported. A check of the area was unsuccessful; the blue bike, valued at under $50, has red shocks and a flashlight mounted on it. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.
Cpl. Jonathan Shave observed Demetrius Joseph walking in the 300 block of Kersey Street on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 8:51 p.m., police said. Joseph, who had a robbery warrant from the West Whiteland Township Police Department, was taken into custody and committed to Chester County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
On Thursday, Nov. 22, at 9:15 a.m., in the 800 block of Stirling Street, police made contact with a man who said that sometime overnight, the electrical wire to his outside landscaping lights was cut, Officer Joseph Norcini reported. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.
