Police say he was treated for minor injuries; he and driver both cited
Coatesville Police were dispatched to the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway for an accident involving a pedestrian on Monday, Jan. 6, at 6:57 a.m., Officer Rob Kuech reported. John Lasak, 55, of Coatesville, was illegally standing in the middle of the street selling the Daily Local News when he was struck by a small dump truck operated by Eduardo Juarez Nune, 25, of Coatesville, police said.
Lasak, who was charged with soliciting on a highway, was transported to Paoli Hospitai for non-life-threatening injuries and released a few hours later, police said. Juarez Nunez was charged with driving with a suspended license and accident-related offenses, police said.
On Monday, Jan. 6, at 1:54 p.m., Officer Miguel A. Ortiz responded to the 800 block of Coates Street for a theft report, police said. Upon arrival, the victim told the officer that an unknown person broke into his rental property and removed all the copper pipes from the house, police said. Officers were dispatched to an apartment building in the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway on Monday, Jan. 6, at 10:53 a.m. for a burglary complaint, Officer Rob Kuech reported. Officers made contact with the property manager, who had discovered water running in the upstairs apartment, which was caused when someone cut the water line to the hot water heater, police said. The water had leaked through the floor to the apartment below, causing the ceiling to collapse; a refrigerator, stove, and some new cabinets were stolen from the downstairs apartment, police said.
