Coatesville woman shot on Pennsylvania Ave.

CPDCOATESVILLE — A city woman was shot Monday afternoon on Pennsylvania Avenue and police took a city man into custody almost immediately following the incident.

Police said that they were called to a domestic dispute with a report of a shooting and found Ashley Johnson lying in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue, bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound. Bystanders indicated to police that the alleged gunman was still in the immediate area, standing on a porch, apparently still holding a gun.

When police approached the man, identified as Raheem Green, 27, he was reported to have attempted to flee into a residence and run out the back door. Police had the exit covered and said Green came out holding a gun, but surrendered it and was taken into custody.

Johnson was transported to Paoli Hospital, with a single gunshot would to her buttock. The injury was described as non-life threatening.

Green, police said, had several bench warrants at the time of his arrest. He was charged with criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm as a felon and other charges. His arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday.
