Witching hour fast approaching in Coatesville

Spook-tacular Third Annual Halloween Parade set for Saturday

Don’t be alarmed if scary-looking creatures are roaming city streets on Saturday: It’s time for the Third Annual Coatesville Halloween Parade.

It’s time to dust the cobwebs off your Halloween costume – or work them into the design. On Saturday, the Third Annual Coatesville Halloween Parade will provide frightful fun for participants and spectators.

An assortment of ghoulish and/or creative characters are expected to participate in the Third Annual Coatesville Halloween Parade.

The line will begin forming at 12:30 p.m. at Third Avenue and Lincoln Highway in the municipal lot. At 1 p.m., the procession of ghouls, ghosts, goblins and other boo-tiful creatures will strut their creations, ending at Abdala Park.

Sponsored by the Coatesville Parks and Recreation Commission and the Coatesville Community Policing Committee, the parade will include prizes. Registration is not required; participants will receive numbers during the line-up.

Marie Hess, who heads the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission, said prizes will be given in three age categories – 0 to 5, 6 to 11, and 12 to 17 – as well as a group award. “Each year, the attendance seems to double,” she said. “We’re really excited about this year’s parade.”
