Area youth performers set to dazzle with dance, drums
If fresh produce, delectable baked goods, savory prepared foods and hand-crafted specialty items haven’t already made you a regular, the Coatesville Farmers Market is adding another reason to visit this week: its First Annual Festival of the Arts.
On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the market, which debuted a year ago, will bring activities and performance in art, music and dance by Coatesville youth to Gateway Park, at the intersection of Route 82 and Lincoln Highway.
Also new this week is Taste of Puebla, a gourmet Mexican restaurant. It will be joined by merchants that include Rex Farms Orchard, Pennsylvania Cookie House, Jacob Beiler, Wonderful Good Market, Railyard Roastery Coatesville Community Coffee, Sunset Park Gluten-Free Cookies, Irie Jamaican Food and Coffee, Botanical Bubbles, Weaverlyne’s Dream, Tootsie Fashions, and Vollmeke Orchards and CSA.
The market’s community partners this week are the Chester County Health Department, which will feature sun safety, the Coatesville Community Education Foundation, which will include Michelle Dirks leading a sign-painting exercise for the market. Additional community partners are UDS Service Dogs, which will offer handmade doggie biscuits, and the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, which will provide information on preventing and remedying domestic violence.
The CYWA Performing Arts Academy Ensemble, which will offer African drumming and dancing, rap and spoken word, and more will entertain along with the American and African Youth Leadership Foundation. Colorful handmade accessories and other cultural specialties will also be available.
