Two new vendors will be featured this Saturday
The Coatesville Farmers Market continues its growth spurt – not unlike the summer squash ripening in local fields and gardens. In fact, next week the market plans to capitalize on that bounty by hosting a Zucchini 500: Turn your own zucchini into a racecar or construct one at the market.
This Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the market welcomes two new vendors. Little Frogs by Julie will feature oat-filled handmade frogs for warming and cooling, emphasis on the latter this week. And Share My Closet will debut, a sustainable business that invites you to bring children’s clothing in excellent condition to sell, or purchase the gently-used ones that are available.
In addition, regular vendors include Rex Farms Orchard, Jacob Beiler, Nomadic Pies, Wonderful Good Market, MacDougall’s Irish Victory Cakes, Sunset Park Gluten-Free Cookies, Taste of Puebla, Botanical Bubbles, Transformations, Vollmecke Orchards and CSA, Railyard Roastery, and Irie Jamaican Food and Coffee.
The market’s community partners this week are the American and African Youth Leadership Foundation (AMAFYLF), a Coatesville nonprofit that aims to educate young men and women ages 7 to 24 affected by adversity and other disadvantages, exposing them to multi-cultural experiences that promote personal growth and advancement. Handmade jewelry will be available for exchange for a monetary donation, which will go to orphans in Zimbabwe. Master Gardeners of Chester County will have some peat pots, soil and broccoli and cabbage seeds. Our topic will be growing ‘second season’ vegetables, and patrons are invited to check the progress of zucchini and sweet potato in containers.
Additional community partners are UDS Service Dogs, which will offer handmade doggie biscuits, and the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, which will provide information on preventing and remedying domestic violence.
The Coatesville Farmers Market is held at Gateway Park, at the intersection of Rt. 82 and Lincoln Highway.
