Downingtown man arrested for driving under influence

 Police said he caused accident Monday on West Lincoln Highway

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA 51-year-old Downingtown man driving westbound on West Lincoln Highway on Monday at 1 p.m. left his lane of travel and struck a parked vehicle, Coatesville Det. Shannon Miller reported. Douglas Kowal, who was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, showed signs of intoxication and was arrested for driving under the influence and traffic offenses, police said.

On Wednesday at 12:57 a.m., Officer Carmen Mollichella found a 36-year-old woman in the 600 block of Merchant Street, who  was “intoxicated to a point where she was a danger to herself and/or others,” police said. The woman, who was not identified by police, was taken into custody, held until sober, and issued a citation for public intoxication, police said.

Coatesville police were dispatched to a burglary discovered in the area of the 300 block of Charles Street on Tuesday at 4:38 p.m., Officer Paul Antonucci reported. The victim told police he left his residence on Friday afternoon and returned home on Tuesday afternoon to find his TV and play station 3 were missing from his bedroom, police said. No damage was found to any upstairs windows or doors, but the basement door was unlocked, police said.

Police responded on Tuesday at 10:17 a.m. to a disturbance call in the 500 block of Olive Street, Det. Shannon Miller reported. The victim told police that he had been threatened by Matthew Kasparian, 51, of Downingtown, who was subsequently cited for harassment, police said.

State police from the Embreeville barracks stopped the driver of a 2003 silver Acura TL for traffic violations on April 28 at 3:58 a.m. on Bradford Avenue, south of Rt. 322 in West Bradford Township, state police said. Upon further investigation, Kathleen Plank, 26, of Coatesville, was arrested for driving under the influence, police said.
