State police: Traffic stop leads to DUI arrest

Troopers said 37-year-old Coatesville man was under influence of alcohol

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOn Friday, a traffic stop on the eastbound U.S. 30 Bypass at Rt. 113 led to drunken-driving charges, state police from the Embreeville barracks said. Police said Stephen W. Aaronson, 37, of Coatesville, was detained for a traffic violation and determined to be under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Michael S. Stokes, 31, of Coatesville, was stopped on Wednesday at 11:49 p.m. on Bondsville Road at North Bailey Road in East Brandywine Township for a traffic violation, state police said. Stokes was arrested after troopers found himto be under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance and in possession of marijuana, state police said.

State police said they investigated a two-vehicle crash on Sept. 20 at 5:57 p.m. on the ramp from the westbound U.S. 30 Bypass to westbound Rt. 322 in Caln Township. A 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Sara M. Meehan, 18, of Downingtown, failed to observe a 2008 BMW 528xi stop for traffic and rear-ended it, police said. Both drivers suffered minor injuries but declined treatment, and both vehicles had to be towed, police said, adding that Meehan was cited for following too closely.
