State police attribute one-vehicle crash to speeding

They said West Chester woman lost control Saturday on  U.S. 30 Bypass in Valley Twp.

Image 2A 54-year-old West Chester woman lost control of her 2001 Ford Ranger on Saturday in Valley Township, state police from the Embreeville barracks said. Police said Maureen E. Singer was heading eastbound in the left lane on the U.S. 30 Bypass, west of Airport Road, when she hit the guard rail, which spun her vehicle down the left shoulder of the road, striking the guard rail a second time. Police said Singer, who was wearing a seatbelt, refused medical treatment; she was cited for traveling at an unsafe speed, police said.

A 20-year-old Coatesville resident faces a harassment citation after police reviewed text messages on Tuesday that he allegedly sent to his ex-girlfriend, Coatesville Officer Raymond Jaglowicz reported. Police said the woman had a series of harassing messages on her phone from James Middleton.

On Wednesday between 10:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., a woman reported that an unknown motorist struck her parked vehicle in the 1000 block of Stirling Street, damaging the passenger-side headlight, hood and front bumper, Officer Raymond Jaglowicz reported.

Officer Raymond Jaglowicz responded to the 1100 block of Walnut Avenue on Tuesday at 6:35 a.m. for a report of a theft from a vehicle, police said. The victim said that sometime between 3:30 p.m. on Monday and 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, someone entered her parked vehicle and stole a GPS unit valued at $125 and eight pair of sunglasses, valued at $50, police said.

On Oct. 11, troopers from the Embreeville barracks investigated a one-vehicle accident on the westbound U.S. 30 Bypass, west of Rt. 82 in Valley Township, state police said. Meagan L. Friel, 27, of Parkesburg, lost control of her 2008 Honda Civic, striking the guardrail, police said. Friel, who was not injured, was cited for improperly leaving her lane of travel, police said.
