COATESVILLE—The Red Raiders continued their winning ways on Friday night, defeating Harry S. Truman 82-49 in the opening round of the PIAA District One tournament.

Coatesville (21-4) rebounded from a surprise loss to Octorara 52-45 by pelting the Tigers with a 33-point win, while having four players in double digits on the scoring sheet.

The #3 seeded Red Raiders will now host 2010 PIAA State champion, number 14 seeded Penn Wood, who rolled over #19 Spring-Ford 76-47 to advance, on Tuesday night in front of the home fans at the CASH gym.

A 66-46 win by #6 seed Great Valley over #27 Interboro has set up a possible rematch of a memorable mid season battle that took place in Malvern with Coatesville and the Pats battling to the last second. The Patriots will take on #11 Abington, who defeated Marple Newtown 62-43 Friday night for the right to travel to Coatesville next weekend in the PIAA District One quarter finals.

BOYERTOWN–The Red Raiders wrestling squad will be battling in the individual sectional tournament for class AAA section 4 at Boyertown Area High School at 9:30 am Saturday.

The sectional marks the first steps toward the big dance at the Giant Center in Hershey where the best in the state will battle for the championship in three weeks.

Qualifiers will advance to next week’s southeastern regional.
