State police: 3 area residents charged with shoplifting

Arrests made Sunday at Walmart in West Sadsbury Township

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAState police from the Embreeville barracks reported two separate incidents of retail theft on Sunday, Dec. 22, at the Walmart in West Sadsbury Township. The first occurred at 2:36 p.m. when Jessica Tolton, 24, of Cochranville, allegedly removed $88.35 worth of merchandise from the store. The second involved Raven Church, 21, and Kristin Jones, 23, both of Coatesville, who are accused of stealing $120 worth of items, police said, adding that all three suspects have been charged with retail theft.

On Saturday, Dec. 21, troopers from the Embreeville barracks investigated a one-vehicle crash in West Brandywine Township, state police said. James G. Shaw, 49, of Downingtown, was traveling west on Highspire Road, east of Brandywine Court, when his 2007 Dodge Caravan left the southern edge of the roadway and struck a utility pole, police said. Shaw, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured, police said. Shaw’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and had to be towed; he was cited for speeding and leaving his lane of travel, police said.

Troopers responded to another one-vehicle crash on Sunday, Dec. 22, on the U.S. 30 Bypass in Valley Township, state police said.  Ashley N. Groff, 25, of West Chester, was reportedly traveling east near mile marker 271 when she left the northern edge of the roadway and struck a guardrail, police said. Groff, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured; however, her 2011 Nissan Sentra had to be towed, police said. Groff was cited for speeding, state police said.

State police said they are seeking information about a bar fight in West Caln Township on Nov. 23 at 2:04 a.m. Police said unknown individuals kicked the victim in the head multiple times. Police said the fight occurred at 1200 Airport Road, which is the listed address of the Coatesville Moose Lodge. Anyone with information is asked to call the Embreeville barracks at 610-486-6280.
